General Plan
Every city in California is required to have an active General Plan. A General Plan is a community's blueprint for future development, a description of a community's development goals and policies; placed to act as the foundation for land use decisions made by the planning commission and city council. Because public involvement is the key to a successful General Plan, all community members are strongly encouraged to participate.
Avenal recently adopted its 2035 General Plan Update on March 22 of 2018 by City Council Resolution. Please read the adopted plan alongside other pertinent plans also developed for the City of Avenal.
