Avenal Redevelopment Agency - Successor Agency and Oversight Board

On December 29, 2011, the California Supreme Court upheld AB x1 26 which dissolved all Redevelopment Agencies in California as of February 1, 2012.  AB x1 26 is the Bill signed by Governor Brown on June 29, 2011 which abolished Redevelopment Agencies within the state of California,  

On January 12, 2012, action was taken by the City Council to assume the role of Successor Agency to "wind down" the affairs (financial & non-financial) affairs of the former Redevelopment Agency for the City of Avenal.

Successor Agency
Except for power limited by AB x1 26, the authority and obligation of the "dissolved"  Avenal Redevelopment Agency, along with property, assets, leases, contracts and records were transferred to and vested in the Successor Agency. 

Oversight Board

The Oversight Board generally "oversees" the activities of the Successor Agency,

The Board consists of seven (7) members as prescribed by law.  One (1) Board Member is appointment as Chairperson.
